Elizabeth Bettag is a lead attorney at the Dohman Law Group and helps clients charged with DUI, traffic and criminal cases in DuPage and Kane County. During her time as both a DUI defense attorney at the Dohman Law Group and as a former prosecutor, she has worked on hundreds of DUI cases and has extensive experience handling DUI matters through all phases of litigation.
Her background in both prosecution and private practice provides her with a well-rounded perspective that allows her to anticipate opposing arguments and prepare accordingly. Known for her preparation, organization, and attention to detail, Elizabeth approaches each case with the understanding that a DUI charge can have serious and lasting consequences for a client’s employment, their ability to drive, their career, and their reputation.
Elizabeth has the unique designation of having been both a former prosecutor in the State’s Attorney’s Office, as well as a local prosecutor on DUI cases. Prior to joining the Dohman Law Group and focusing her practice on DUI defense, Elizabeth managed a high-volume DUI caseload, overseeing all phases of litigation from discovery review and motion practice to negotiations and courtroom advocacy. Through her experience as a prosecutor, she developed a comprehensive understanding of how cases are investigated, charged, and presented by the State. Having prepared and litigated bench trials, jury trials, and evidentiary hearings, Elizabeth understands the evidentiary standards prosecutors must meet and, just as importantly, where weaknesses may arise.
Elizabeth earned her Juris Doctor with honors from Chicago-Kent College of Law and holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Dayton. She is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
